Mata Ni Pachedi textiles are said to 400 years old with lineage that can be traced throughh oral traditions that are estimated to be more than 700 years.

Mata Ni Pachedi "behind the Mother Goddess", is a ritual textile painting tradition originating from Gujrat. These cloth panels serve as portable shrines or sacred backdrops for the worship of the Mother Goddess (Mata) and are intrinsically associated with the  Vaghri community.

The textiles are combination of block print and hand painting depicting divine stories, goddesses, and narratives, serving as a devotional backdrop for worship.

We offer a small vignette from the original textiles for the show.

The artwork is available framed.
