Shiva in color- Maria Chumak
Rs. 6,500.00

Motorcycling is a passion I discovered in India. It is the best way to travel—immersive, efficient in traffic, economical, and deeply connected to the landscape. It is also one of the most popular forms of transportation in the country.

My choice to depict Durga and Shiva on motorcycles comes from the dynamic nature of these deities and their strong connection to fire, speed, and metal. I wanted to bring together traditional symbolism and contemporary aesthetics, using their attributes in a modern visual language.

Shiva is portrayed riding a Vincent Black Shadow C-Series (1952), the fastest motorcycle of its time and an icon of engineering and power. Durga, as a fierce female presence, is depicted on a Royal Enfield Bullet—robust, enduring, and unmistakably Indian.

The drawings are created with Chinese ink for the outlines, followed by hand coloring with watercolors. For the prints, I prefer brownish or bluish line work. Both prints (coloured or black and white) are available on high-quality paper, framed or unframed.
