1 Ardhranareshwar Platter
14 ½” dia
Gas Fired Stoneware
Ardhanarishvara is a form of the Hindu deity Shiva combined with his consort Parvati, depicted as half-male and half-female, representing the synthesis of masculine and feminine energies of the universe (Purusha and Prakriti) and illustrates how Shakti is inseparable from Shiva. My ceramic platters are but canvases for simple line- drawings and watery ceramic glazes that depict the simplicity of the concept of this union, exalted as the root and womb of all creation.
