Yama Calling
Yama Calling reimagines the ritual bell as a sculptural interface between the sacred and the everyday. Inspired by the figure of Yama—not as a god of fear, but as a keeper of truth. It reflects on cycles of endings and beginnings. The bold, stacked silhouette feels strong and steady, grounded like a deep, calming breath. Its carved surface resembles abstracted codes like patterns that echo footprints, sound waves or digital scripts, hinting at forgotten languages of loss, ritual, and remembrance in a contemporary world.
Dimensions: 5.5” (L) x 5.5” (W) x 9” (H) - all dimensions in inches
Technique: Wheel thrown with high-fired glaze and Sgraffito, gas fired
Material: Stoneware Ceramics
Weight: 1.13 kg
Year of Completion: 2025
